NEKO
Lesson 14 of 15 · 3 min read

Staying safe

Check the token account, not the name, and never sign what you don't understand.

Most crypto losses are scams, not hacks. The big ones:

  • Look-alike tokens. Anyone can call a token "USDC". Check the token account (like ftv2.nekotoken.near for NEKO), not just the name.
  • Fake sites and DMs. Type addresses yourself or use bookmarks. Admins never DM first.
  • Too good to be true. "Send 10, get 20 back" is always a scam.
  • Read what you sign. Your wallet shows what a transaction does. If it's not what you expected, reject it.

Quick check

Two tokens are both called NEKO. Which one is real?

  1. AThe one with the nicer logo
  2. BThe one at ftv2.nekotoken.near
  3. CThe cheaper one
Show the answer

B: The one at ftv2.nekotoken.near. Names can be copied. The token account can't: NEKO lives at ftv2.nekotoken.near.
